The celebration of the European Champions, which mobilized several millions of Dutchmen, hit its peak during a canal cruise through Amsterdam.
Hundreds of thousands of people had positioned themselves along the canals, in their own boats or on houseboats to be able to see a glimpse of the Dutch national team. On the houseboats in particular, bizarre situations occurred from time to time.
