Particulars

Electrification

In 2017, the Prinses Irene was fully restored and electrified. The Prinses Irene had the honour of becoming the first boat in our fleet to be fully electric.

The Prinses Irene first sailed under the name Hollandia IV.

Sir Winston Churchill

The Irene also has had a few illustrious guests in the far and more present past. The most famous of them is Sir Winston Churchill. Shortly after the war, Sir Winston Churchill, Field Marshal Montgomery and General Eisenhower all visited Amsterdam. The festive tour through the city was concluded after a canal boat tour through the Amsterdam canals in the Burgerzaal of the Palace on the Dam with the presentation of a gold medal.
